The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the extension of the deadline for the submission of applications for the GES self-posting for Colleges of Education shortlisted applicants who completed their course in 2022.
The initial deadline was August 21, 2024, but the body has said that the new deadline – August 30, 2024 – is to enable ample time for applicants to complete the self posting process and submit their appointment letters.
Background of the GES Self-Posting Module
The Ghana Education Service (GES) introduced the new self-posting module aimed at streamlining the recruitment process for the first batch of 2022 degree holders from Public Colleges of Education.
The new module is to allow the graduates to select their preferred region, district and school for their posting via the GES portal which began operating on July 31, 2024. The Director-General of the GES, Dr Eric Nkansah, made this known during a press briefing in Accra in July.
The Director-General of the GES announced on May 11, 2024, that the Service had extended an invitation to qualified trained teachers who had completed their first degree at a Public College of Education.
Of the 21,010 applications received, 12,784 were found to be qualified. Dr. Nkansah further explained that the GES self-posting module was created to ensure that recently trained teachers were assigned to areas where they could effectively communicate in the local language, improving the teaching and learning environment.
For those who have not been able to go through the self-posting process until now, the new deadline affords them a bit more time to put things together.
