President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially introduced the ‘Ghana Smart Schools Project’, marking a significant stride in advancing digital education in the country.
Unveiled on Monday, March 25, 2024, in Accra, the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to revolutionize learning through technology.
Aligned with the Ministry of Education’s digitalization drive for pre-tertiary education, the project is set to equip all Senior High School (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide with cutting-edge teaching and learning tools.
With a focus on enhancing the quality of SHS education, the project will provide state-of-the-art teaching and learning management systems, digital content, and electronic devices to students.
In his address at the launch, President Akufo-Addo revealed plans to distribute smart tablets to 1.3 million SHS students across the country. Additionally, the government aims to construct approximately 100 smart SHSs within the next two years to further enrich the learning environment.
Emphasizing the importance of digitalization in education, the President highlighted ongoing efforts to provide discounted tablets and laptops to tertiary students and lecturers, fostering a conducive academic atmosphere.
Looking ahead, the government envisions leveraging digitalization to enhance the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy, ensuring a seamless integration of online and offline learning experiences for students nationwide.
